The Black Hills Energy corporate Foundation has awarded a $16,000 grant to the Lawrence Public Library Foundation for the creation of a teen homework center in the library’s Young Adult Department.
The Black Hills Energy Homework Center will feature quiet study areas with internet access computers so that teens without home computers can study and get their homework done. In addition, the library’s computers will have access to Homework Kansas, a service through the state library of Kansas that provides live, online tutoring for K-12 students.
”We are so grateful for this generous gift to the library and to the teens of our community,” said Bruce Flanders, Library Director. “The Black Hills Energy Homework Center will be a centerpiece of the young adult section of the library.”
