Coming Soon to the Lawrence Public Library: The Black Hills Energy Homework Center

The Black Hills Energy corporate Foundation has awarded a $16,000 grant to the Lawrence Public Library Foundation for the creation of a teen homework center in the library's Young Adult Department.

The Black Hills Energy Homework Center will feature quiet study areas with internet access computers so that teens without home computers can study and get their homework done.

"We are so grateful for this generous gift to the library and to the teens of our community," said Bruce Flanders, Library Director.  "The Black Hills Energy Homework Center will be a centerpiece of this year's renovation of the young adult section of the library."

In 2010, the Young Adult Department will undergo a light renovation. In addition to the Black Hills Energy Homework Center, the area will feature a new teen reading lounge, new carpeting and an improved sound barrier so that teens can be teens!  The renovation will be complete in mid 2010.
